WHAT IS HIDEOUT'S PLAN FOR THE KINDERGARTEN "GENTLE BEGINNINGS"?
During the first 2 weeks of school, we will adjust your schedule to accommodate Springhill's "gentle beginnings" for the kindergarten students.
Regardless of whether your child is early or late slip, all kinders will attend Springhill from 8:15 to 11:45 and will attend Hideout from 11:45 until their normal contracted pick up time.
DOES THE TRANSITIONAL KINDER SCHEDULE CHANGE ON WEDNESDAYS, GENTLE BEGINNINGS, OR MINIMUM DAYS?
Yes and No. Transitional Kindergarten (TK) hours are consistent Mon - Fri each week. However, TK hours may be adjusted during conference week and other minimum days. Your teacher will let you know if/when your child's schedule will ever be different.
Early Slip TK is 8:15 - 11:45 and Late Slip is 9:15 - 12:45 five days per week each week.
For the TK bridge care, we provide care starting at 8:15 before and/or after TK until the end of the school day (2:45 MTThF, 1:45 W). TK families can also request care as early as 7:15 and as late at 6 pm.
ARE TK/KINDERS KEPT SEPARATE FROM OLDER KIDS?
No. All kids will be together after school. We do break into small groups based on what activity each child wants to do.
CAN MY CHILD WALK UP TO HIDEOUT ALONE IN THE MORNINGS?
No. ALL KIDS must be walked up to Hideout and signed in between 7:15 and 8:15. CHILDREN MAY NOT WALK UP ON THEIR OWN DURING THIS TIME. This is a licensing regulation. At 8:10, we will sign early slip tk/kinders out and walk them directly to their class by 8:15. All 1st - 5th graders will be signed out at 8:15 and released to the play yard until school starts.
HOW WILL MY CHILD GET TO HIDEOUT AFTER SCHOOL?
All 1st through 5th graders walk themselves up to Hideout from school and we sign them in. If your child does not arrive within 10 minutes of release from Springhill, we send a teacher out to look for him/her and begin calling parents.
We will walk tk/kinders to class and pick them up from class. Your tk/ kinder will never walk up to Hideout on his/her own.
We offer "curb-side-drop-off" between 8:15 and 8:30 at the yellow gate on the right side of campus as you pull in, and "kinder yard pick up" at 2:45, as parking will not be easy at either of these times:
1. at drop-off: you will drive through the circle (you must pull as far forward as possible - do not stop in front of us) and let your child out to walk back to us. Please let the parking lot staff know that your child attends Hideout and they will direct them over to us. We will be standing behind the yellow gate with a clipboard in hand to welcome the late slip TK/ kinders. If you do not drop-off to us between 8:15 & 8:30 at the curb, you MUST walk up the hill to sign your child in. Children may not come up on their own - even if you are running late. This is a licensing regulation.
* 2. at pick-up: we will take the tk/kinders to the kinder yard to play between 2 - 2:45. Please pick your child up from the kinder playground by 2:45 MTThF, and 1:45 on Wednesdays! Please do not be late! All tk/k's must be picked up by 2:45 (1:45 on Wednesday) or you will be charged the late pick up fee of $1 per minute (charged from 2:45/1:45 until you pick up) because being late will cause us to be out of ratio. Thanks for understanding that putting us over ratio can compromise the safety and quality of the program.
You may pick up or drop off any time within your scheduled hours directly from Hideout.
*If you have a 1st - 5th grader, they can come to the kinder yard after 2:42(1:42 Wed) when they get out of school to get your tk/K and then meet you at your designated pick up spot. Please let us know if you will have your older child pick up so we can make a note on our sign-in sheet!
WHAT IF I NEED ADDITIONAL CARE?
If you need additional care, please:
~ email - info@kidshidout.net
~ text or call - 925-282-0903 (Hideout cell)
to request care. We can not always guarantee space, so it is imperative that you contact Hideout ahead of time to secure the care. If we do not return your email within 24 hours, or, if you have a same day request, please CALL/TEXT the Hideout Cell Phone 925-282-0903.
DO I NEED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT MY CHILD WILL BE ABSENT?
Yes - for tk/kinders, we ask that you contact us to let us know that your child will be absent so that we are not looking for him/her. If you decide to pick up directly from class on your Hideout day, please just let the Hideout teacher know (she will be down in the kinder yard with the clipboard) so that we can mark your child off.
For kids in the 1st through 5th who come directly from school, we MUST hear from a parent that your child will be absent. Please don't ask your child to tell us - we must speak to a parent, or receive an email/text from parent - per licensing. Fees will be assessed, after two warnings, for those who fail to call as Hideout to report an absence as we must treat each absent child as missing, which means we need to send out staff to search for children, compromising the ratios of the program. You can find more information about fees on our fee sheet, under "Additional Fees": https://sites.google.com/site/kidshideoutcenter/fee-sheet
To report an absence:
~ email - info@kidshideout.net
~ text or call - 925-282-0903 (Hideout cell)
Please let us know WHY your child is absent as well so that we can monitor illnesses.
DOES HIDEOUT PROVIDE FOOD/SNACKS?
Breakfast is included in your monthly fees if attending the sunrise club. The menu is posted on the refrigerator.
Snack is provided by Hideout at 2:45. An additional light "fruit only snack" will be provided at 5:15.
WHERE WILL MY TK/KINDER EAT LUNCH
The TK will each lunch with Hideout every day at 12:45 in the TK yard with Hideout staff.
After Gentle Beginnings, the Kinders will eat lunch in their classroom every day except Wednesdays. On Wednesday, we will eat outside the kinder classrooms (weather permitting) between 11:45 and 12:05 with Hideout staff. Please send a lunch if your child is not participating in the school's hot lunch program.
DOES HIDEOUT PARTICIPATE IN THE SCHOOL'S HOT LUNCH PROGRAM?
Yes, Hideout will pick up pre-ordered lunch bags from the MPR for TK (daily) and Kinders (Wednesdays) AFTER gentle beginnings is over. We start participating for both grades during the third week of school. Please pack a lunch from home the first two weeks for ALL K/TK.
The district will send you a google form with meal choices for the month. You need to fill that out as soon as possible to pre-order your child's lunches. Hideout will grab the lunches before picking up TK/Ks and pass them out during lunch. If you forget to sign up, your child will need to wait until we pass all food out, and then help look through their backpack to see if you sent a lunch, and then if no lunch, we will go back to the MPR for a lunch, but your child may not get the choice they wanted. Also, Hideout will not be able to make exchanges in your child's lunch. Please remember that we have around 14-18 TK daily, and 40 - 50 kinders on Wednesdays, so we will not be able to make adjustments to what you ordered. We will simply pick up per-ordered meals and pass them out to your child.
Please order the meals WITH your child as many kids do not like the hot lunch and end up throwing their food away.
WHAT WILL MY CHILD DO WHILE AT HIDEOUT?
Please visit our daily schedule on the website to see what we will be doing during your child's time at Hideout. We will have some free play, a teacher directed activity, and outside play at different times through the day.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE AFTERNOON AT HIDEOUT?
There are between 9 and 12 teachers in the afternoons (2:45 - 6). We offer teacher directed activities in small groups from 3:30 - 4:20. Kids will be in groups of 10 - 14, depending on the activity. Kids will have 7 to 9 activities to choose from, though they may not always get their first choice activity as we limit the number of kids per teacher.
HOW MUCH ARE THE RATES AND HOW DO I PAY?
Invoices for the month will emailed on the 1st of each month and payment is due upon receipt, directly from the invoice. Payments will be considered late if not paid by the 5th. Payments can be made by:
1. credit card - via the invoice
2. check - dropped off in our WHITE mailbox down by the yellow gate at the circle
3. check - dropped off in the Hideout office (Box on wall says "TUITION")
Please see RATE SHEET for additional info on rates & fees: https://sites.google.com/site/kidshideoutcenter/fee-sheet
Yes, you can request to make a change to your child's schedule, or withdraw from the program, with two-week's written notice. Notice must be emailed to the director at info@kidshidoeut.net in addition to filling out the "Schedule Change" request form on the "2025-26 Info" drop-down menu.
If we are able to place you in the schedule you originally requested and you later want to reduce days/times or change your days, you will only be able to do so if the new schedule that you want is available. You will not be able to simply reduce/change days you no longer want. You will either need to give up the entire spot and move to the wait list until the new schedule you want becomes available, or remain in your contracted spot until the new schedule becomes available. Thanks for understanding!
Just a reminder that:
we offer the following days: M-F, M-Th, MWF, TTh, or TThF
we do not offer credit for days missed due to illness, vacation, after school enrichment classes that you choose to enroll in, play dates, or holidays
DOES HIDEOUT ADMINISTER MEDICINE?
Yes. However, we must have a form filled out by the parent. We only administer doctor-prescribed medicine, in original container, with label intact. The form can be found on the website under the enrollments page tab: https://sites.google.com/site/kidshideoutcenter/registration-info/enrollment-forms
IS HIDEOUT OPEN WHEN SPRINGHILL IS CLOSED?
Hideout is closed for all holidays and some other non-holiday dates, however, we are open for Camp Days during many Springhill closures. You have to sign up to attend these camp days if you need care (even if it is your regular day) as space is limited on camp days.
Parents are not charged for camp days unless the child is signed up and confirmed for camp. Rates for these days will be listed on each sign-up form.
Camp signups for the year will be live on our website by the first day of school. https://sites.google.com/site/kidshideoutcenter/camp-sign-ups. There will also be a yellow banner at the top of the Home Page with the upcoming Camp Sign up. In addition, we will email the form about 4-6 weeks before the camp day/week to all families.
Please see Hideout Calendar for info on Hideout and Springhill Closures and Hideout Camp Days. https://sites.google.com/site/kidshideoutcenter/home/hideout-calendar
CAN MY CHILD BRING PERSONAL ITEMS TO USE AT HIDEOUT?
No. Springhill requests that kids do not bring personal items to school, so out of respect to the school, Hideout does not allow kids to bring personal items on SCHOOL DAYS either. However, if your child attends Hideout on a camp day, your child is allowed to bring personal items of a non-violent nature (and no electronics please) - however, Hideout is not responsible for lost, stolen, or broken items, so please choose carefully when sending items of sentimental value.
IS HIDEOUT NUT FREE?
No. Hideout will not serve nuts products, however, other kids may bring foods that contain nuts. Please remind us if your child has any food allergy at all!
DOES HIDEOUT HAVE OUTSIDE ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS:
Yes. We will be offering an enrichment classes for kindergartners only:
1. Lego Class - Wednesdays from 12:15 to 1:15.
We provide the space for the class, but we do not collect any fees from the program. You can pay and register directly with the program itself. You must be enrolled in Hideout on Wednesdays in order to participate in Lego class. We will send an email to kinder families with the link to register.
For those families looking for other enrichment programs, Springhill /PFC offers Before and After School Enrichment Programs. Please visit the PFC (Parent Faculty Club) website for information: www.springhillpfc.org.
WILL MY CHILD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO HOMEWORK AT HIDEOUT?
Yes!! We offer homework club from 3:30 - 4:20. We will have a teacher who can help assist your child during this time. Homework club is optional for the kids unless you let us know otherwise. If you want your child to do homework, we will require him/her to join the homework club group.
